The World Energy Council Colombia will hold the second International Meeting on Electric Mobility, focused on the competitiveness of cities. Medellín will host this second version, which will continue the topics discussed in Bogotá a year ago. 600,000 electric vehicles in Colombia by 2030
The main objective of this Meeting is to promote electric mobility initiatives in Colombia’s cities, aimed at meeting the Sustainable Development Objectives, ODS, the commitments of the Paris Agreement and the country’s accession to the OECD. It also seeks to present actions that help meet the goal of CONPES Green Growth 3439 in environmental matters, in which Colombia expects to have 600,000 electric vehicles in 2030, it should be noted that in 2017 there were 1,695 registered.
The justification for setting these goals is clear, electric mobility contributes to solving the problems of cities, ensures quality of life, social equity, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, promoting more efficient uses of energy and consequently helps to have more competitive cities. It is necessary to move towards mobility modes that are less dependent on fossil fuels, use clean energy sources and incorporate new solutions and applications such as car sharing, congestion charges, as well as trains, metros and electric bicycles. In this particular case, technology is moving faster than public policy and regulation.

The event presents the benefits and potentialities of electric mobility, but also recognizes success stories from some countries, cities and companies. It is also an opportunity to meet and exchange experiences and initiatives in electric mobility developed locally.
