Sep2018 Transition to electromobility in Peru

The 1st Electromobility Congress of Peru was held this Thursday September 6 at the BTH Hotel, San Borja, Lima. Dedicated to drawing up a national roadmap, in view of the imminent transition to electric vehicles, it counted with the presence of important actors of the sector to discuss the challenges of Peru and Latin America in the face of the new emerging market.

Renowned specialists, managers of the best known brands and representatives of the most influential organizations of the State, were present in this important event that had a novel exhibition, which provided a sample of latest generation electric and hybrid cars and services for the electric mobility sector, such as innovative electrolineras.

More than 35 exhibitors from important companies and institutions such as Enel X, Porsche, ABB and QevTech Latam, KIA, BYD, ALD Automotive, ONU Medio Ambiente, Osinergmin, COES-SINAC, UTEC participated in the meeting dealing with various topics on electromobility and detailed the various advantages of this technology. The Ministry of Energy and Mines, whose commitment to the summit evidences the relevance of the sector for Peru, also provided accompaniment and officialization.

An international meeting

The meeting had in its program the participation as speaker of Giani López, representative of the Consortium of Electric Mobility of Chile; Edgar Silva, president of the Association of Electric and Innovative Vehicles of Brazil; Oliverio Enrique García, president of the Association of Motor Vehicles of Colombia and Mariano Jimena, president of the Association of Electric and Alternative Vehicles of Argentina. In the meantime, the Peruvian Automotive Association (APP) participated in representation.

In the same way, in the Summit-Exhibition it was announced the conformation of the Peruvian Association of Electromobility, that will be presented in the meeting as promoter of the electric mobility in the country.

Regional Cooperation

In addition to Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile, which participated as speakers in the meeting were also present as special guests, the presidents of the electric mobility associations of Mexico and Paraguay.

It is intended that the meeting, in addition to establishing a regional strategy to promote the use of electric vehicles, will serve as a space to form a Latin American Association of Electric Mobility.

Likewise, as part of the promotion of electric mobility in Peru, a web portal with exclusive information on the subject was presented, as well as an Electromobility newsletter.
